About Peter West

Peter West is the author of "Reluctant Journey" and several other works-in-progress. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Peter currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife, two daughters and three cats. He is a graduate of Indiana University and is also an award-winning poet as well as an aspiring songwriter.

Peter's writing style is a unique blend of mystery, suspense, science fiction, romance, and horror. He has had a passion for literature from a young age and has read almost non-stop since he could first pick up a book. His favorite authors and creative inspirations include James Rollins, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, John Saul, Stephen R. Donaldson, J.R.R. Tolkien and too many others to mention.

Peter strives to create real and believable characters to which his readers can relate and connect. His use of emotion in his novels is a powerful tool that will leave readers riveted and deeply affected. He likes to explore the boundaries of the human condition and to blur the line between good and evil.

Peter has traveled to most of the continental United States and hopes to soon visit Hawaii and Alaska as well as to explore other foreign countries. He uses his knowledge and experience from his travels abroad in the U.S. to build rich environments full of both familiar locales and local cultures. In addition to his excursions throughout the country, Peter is constantly researching locations and cultures for the settings in his novels.

Peter is continually working to evolve his writing and grow as a writer. He believes that in order to become more adept as a writer, one must study the masters at their craft. Therefore, he spends as much, if not more, time reading than writing. Observing the styles of other successful authors is the key to better and more profound works. In addition, Peter welcomes input and comments from his readers and carefully considers how to incorporate the best ideas into his writing.
